Way back in the late 1980’s Ray and his wife came to stay for a weekend with me and my girlfriend Anita. Ray and I were friends through work. Ray at BT and me at GEC. I told Ray that we went horse riding on Sundays and did he fancy it? Ray assured me he could ride so off we went. It soon become apparant that Ray’s only experience of horses was probably backing them……certainly not riding them! Ray stuck at the task valiantly, bouncing up and down like a new birn in a baby bouncer! We had such a laugh over it and Ray said he thoroughly enjoyed himself despite probably not being able to walk straight for about a week afterwards. I still chuckle ti myself when i think of that day, despite it being over 35 years ago. We had some great chats and laughs over the years and I shall miss Ray very much.
